i was wondering besides soaking the babys in baby shampoo baths, what else do you use to make your babys smell good. i've seen these baby powder wafers to put inside the babys but wasn't sure ssage
I had a mohair person send me a few of those. I'm not really sure how they would react inside the polyfil. I do know that after a while the older Berenguers smell really bad (like dead roses) and I have to air them out most of the summer outdoors. I also had a doll whos former owner used some sent and it didn't smell like what it was supposed to.
I have been very tempted to put some scent into my babies too but until they come out with something "old proof" so it won't smell bad when it gets old, I won't do it. Besides, I don't know if something like that would have a reaction with the polyfil or vinyl.
I purchased some fragrance at saveonscents.com. I put a couple drops of the scented oil on a piece of polyfill. I'm afraid to use more than that as I don't want the scent to be overwhelming.

I use a scent powder satchel (I know I spelled that wrong =( ) I bought from a lady on ebay. I have a doll I put one into over 2 years now and the scent is still the same soft powder scent as when I first purchased it. Crossing my fingers hoping it holds out.
You know... the only problem with putting a scent in/on them is what about all the thousands of people who are scent-sensitive or have allergies/asthma? I would be afraid that someone would have a health issue. I usually only wear perfume to school on the days that certain people won't be there (like the woman who sits next to me at the next bench). I know she has issues with scents something terrible! Not meaning to put a damper on this or rain on anyones parade but... gives one pause for thought eh?
It seems like there are a lot of products in the world that come scented or unscented. You are right about the possibility someone may be sensitive to the scent. I think the scent I use is not strong enough to make much difference, but I usually ask if the customer wants it.
Tina, I would love to know who sells the powder scent sachets on eBay. If she's still selling and and you know the ebay ID, would you please send a PM?

Linda, It's been awhile since I bouther from her and can't remember her ID however I may have her card put away in my old reborning things. I'll check and get back to you.
In Aust, you can buy baby scent deoderant, I have used that but you do need to refresh it after awhile. I bought some other fragrant satchels, but left them in the car and they just went into one blob, instead of staying in the little pellets. XXXXX June.
I one in my car is still in the exact condition it was when I bought it. I don't know how she makes them, but it's been left in the heat and freezing cold with no ill effects so far and its been two years.
Wow, that's pretty good. Poor June, a blob of scent? Yuck! Well, you guys in OZ do get the hotter heat I think. I saw a pic of a guy in OZ that went out in the sun for a few years with no sunscreen and he got cancer of the nose. He had to get a fake nose. One guy with the same but his ears, so he got fake ears! I'd bet your sun is worse than ours in the states. My friends in OZ have a terrible time in the sun. He's already got melanomas! Oh... sorry... I guess I went off on a tangent with June and her blob of scent lol
That's Ok, I have olive skin. I only have to be in the car and I get a tan. I only ever sunbaked one year and missed under my chin, so Ithink a natural tan is better than the choco ice blocks colour. Yeh damm scents, i don't know where to buy the baby sent ones from. XXXXXXX June.
well bought some of those wafers,i love em.1st baby i put to small of pieces so the scent didn't realy come thru -- 2nd baby i got it right baby smells great--- as you guys pointed out someone might have allergys so now what i do is wrap a wafer in a little polyfill and tuck it in the diaper, that works well. i liked them so much i put 2 in my airconditioner filter, yum. sage
I'm really sensitive to smells and I can't stand it when people use scent on dolls. I refuse to buy dolls that are scented. The worst smelling dolls are Ashton Drake's. They mix that scent into the vinyl and it NEVER goes away. I love their dolls but the smell makes me dizzy and gives me a headache. After 15 minutes in the car with one I thought I was going to puke. Please don't do it unless someone requests it. (Plus I've never been around a baby that smelled like any "baby scent" I've ever smelled.)
Hi - have not been around in a while - I've had a lot of company. I've finished another babe and will post pics later. I put baby powder in the body, but I think the baby powder wafer in the diaper smells better, is easy to remove, if it's too strong, cut it in half. BB sells them. Debbie Henshaw, "They Never Grow Up Nursery", has a great blog complete with tutorials. In a recent post she said she made a sachet by putting baby powder in a baby sock, seals it and puts it in the body. I think I'll check Ebay for wafers. Night-Night Sandy
Good to "see" you, Sandy. Thanks for sharing the info.
Linda
