I have been posting a bit lately and thought I would take time to introduce myself and let everyone know about the evil plans I have in case you wanna boot me right out on my ear, so to speak.
My name is Tommie and I have never sculpted a baby doll in my life. I sculpt figurines, art dolls, and the like. I have been at it for about 15 years and have had pieces on display in various places around the world, including the bead museum in Washington DC. I can't really offer much assist to baby doll or reborning specific questions but I have a great deal of experience with tools, polymer clays, heat set and acrylic paints, etc. So I hope I can be a small asset to the group.
Now for the admission... It is not my intent to make my current sculpt a nice pretty little baby... I am making a bust that I am calling "The Adoption is Final" which is essentially based on the Frankenstein mythos. I know that among some baby doll people this is tantamount to blasphemy, so I thought I had better come clean and hope you all don't feel like I am intruding where I don't belong. I will post a picture of the thing when it's done if anyone would like to see it
Well... I almost don't know what to say here. :l Thank you for "coming clean" and giving us your tentative itinerary. Decisions for you to be in forum or not will have to be made individually (IMHO) but you are an artist and as you said, you do work with the same media we do here in forum. We have had many discussions in here about "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and I guess it certainly would be in this case, especially with the "Frankenstein" thing going on with your sculpt.
I recall some time ago that we had like a demon baby artist here for a while. And if we have others who work on... alternate ideas with dolls/sculpts, then they aren't saying anything. I believe art is art! And if we call ourselves artists (which most of us do) then who is to say what is not art, KNIM? At least you have warned us ahead of time lol hehehe. Those who choose not to look can avoid your topic in the artist showcase (the ONLY place to post photos) so maybe you could put some mad or evil emoticon with your posts eh? I believe you'll find them in the advanced editor when you post your pics.
In any event, lets see what kind of comments we get here to start off with. I know many will pop in and read the posts without leaving comment. That's ok too. Just make sure you play nice with all the rest of the forumers. Our rule... be polite and play nice ok? :)
while alot of us like to do sweet babys some people see the world a little differently and today different has be come more main stream.when i started reborning my daughter only wanted to do a zombie baby so i had to choose between normal or bonding with my daughter, well to make a short tail of it-she worked as hard on her z.baby as we do our sweet babys -there's room for both. sage ps. he's creepy cute

Yes I agree with Pat as well. Each artist see's thier work in a different light then others may, but an artist is still an artist are they not? I have no problem with you joining Welcome!
All types of art as Pat said is in the eye of the beholder. My son is into skulls and Cow head Skeliton and Dragons, Me I'm more at peace with beauty, and making beautiful babies and cloths. But each to their own and you will see you will get honest comments on this forum. I have been involved, like Pat in the doll indusry for 20 odd yrs and there is a very well known lady, called Chris Boston, in Australia, She is very talented in making Wisards, HarryPotter, All her sculps have only 3 fingers and a thumb, She works with Polymer Clay and Resin.Chris has won every top award in comps for her sculps. And Tommie, some of us oldies a'ren't into fancy lingo, so please keep it simple. Will have to check your profile to see your age. I'm guessing arround 35yrs. Looking forward to seeing the weird and wonderful. LOL. XXXXXX June
I am soon to be 44 actually. And I did have a good deal of fun with this sculpture. I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be upsetting a lot of people.
if creepy but cute scares you look away!!! i love my daughters zombie baby-feel free to comment- be gentle it's her first. sage

I LOVE the Zombie Baby! But this all brings up a question... Those few of us who are making these undead creations... are we reunborning, unreborning, undeading, redeading? I am confuzzled.
For some of us that have lost children or babies, may feel a bit put off by this kind of baby as we realy do want capture the look of a real baby. But in saying that I am not discrediting the work she has done, for her it is art. So good on her for having a go. I personnaly love little green people, fairy, angles, elfs, and Leprachuns. beside my reborns and Porcelain. By the way Tommie I checked out your age and found out you where 44, but not a Pieces. LOL... XXXXX June.
Thank You Pat, I need something to entertain myself at times. I have a four yr old Granddaughter, asking me about my Parents, her great Nana and Pop. She wonders where they are. I have never heard of anyone coming back from the here after, but to explain to her where they are, I tell her they are in Heaven, Where's heaven, Up amongst the clouds, what are they doing up there, I said, it a place you go after you have had a long time on earth and when you are too old. What do they do there, well, I said, they dust the clouds, OH. She was scared of thunder, I explained that, that was great Nana, Great Pop and Uncle Sean clapping their hands to make the rain so her flowers would grow. She was happy with my explanation and not scared of thunder and rain anymore. How would you all have explained it? LOL XXXXXX June. PS> She said, she doesn't want to grow wings just yet. I said, no you dont have to untill you are older.
