I think you have done quite a good job for your first baby, I think the green dummy detracts her look, especially since she has green eyes, giving her a pink or white dummy would probably tone done her collouring. She does't seem like she has eyebrows, her lips could be a little more smoother, otherwise the blochiness doesn't look bad, it looks nice as a newborn. JIMO> This is ment to be helpfull. XXXXXX June.
yeah for the red hair........i'm a red head with blue green eyes, who tans well so i'm in on red headed babys. but don't limit your self every baby has something to teach . yours sage

I love red hair babies too. My son is the only red head in the entire family tree! My husband and I have the really red highlights but light brown hair, he came out pure red and kept it! Her blotchiness isn't that bad I agree her legs turned out really well and also her lips are a bit dark but over all nice job on your first!! Congrats!
I love red heads too, though we don't have any in our family all my girls where born with dark hair and went blondboth sons where born with white blond hair and turned light brown. With the mohair you can shampoo and condition it with a soft shampoo and I use mouse to style their hair. You could also trim it too, if you a game. I do find the mouse styles their hair, and you just have to dampen it when you brush it again. Make sure the hair is sealed and dry before you do this. It appears from the the photos that quite a few ladies enjoyed holding Riley Paige. It sure ooks like fun.
Your future reborn babies will be better and better because you will learn from each doll. At least that's the way it was for me. My favorite is still my first doll even though all the others look better. I bet Riley Paige will always be special to you.
Thanks so much for sharing the photos!

I like the red hair as I have redheads in my family tree too (although I didn't get any)!
I have decided to teach my students to start their base layer with a flesh 08 instead of 07 as they come out almost as pale as your baby. So it was important to me to have them see the difference. I still kept one of my "Norweigan" babies (as Mr Secrist called them lol) and one done with the flesh 08 base tone. What a difference that makes. And my mottling (2 fleshtones) is more spaced out than it used to be. I just keep looking at real babies and comparing in my mind. As far as the blushing on the face, you can always tone it down with a color-correcting paint (search in forum for color-correct) and then do another thin flesh color over that, it usually works. For the lips, use the lip color right out of the jar (mix thoroughly first) and put on 1 thin coat and bake, then another very thin coat if that is too light, bake again.
Your technique looks ok (hope you have been watching some of the dvd's) it's just we get a little heavy-handed with the color sometimes. Keep practicing and you'll get better. Technique is always the hardest, second is coloring.
I have a friend who now wants to make one for her granddaughter who is going to be a sister to a new sibling.
We will go through the steps together which will make my day.
I was told about watching the Course 3 DVD Can anyone affirm that it gives more details for flesh coats etc.
I am truly wanting to get the flesh more flesh color and not too pale.
As my dolls legs came out they had less layers and I think they came out very fine. (I'm pleased)
As my group picture tells I had all the ladies thinking the baby was real.
I took her to church and had my girlfriends husband thinking that also.
He was told I made her shortly after our church lunch started and he commented, " I thought something was up when you said she is sleeping in the car and the car was in the cold"
Needless to say, many church members now want to take the plunge.
Anything I can learn will surely help them as well.
Hello! Pat B., your post says that you get your students to start with flesh 8 rather than flesh 7, so as not to create too plale a skintone...isn't flesh 08 the palest, and flesh 7 darker? Sorry if I have misunderstood something. Thanks, Barb
