Working on another doll. I'm following the Secrest DVD. Down to were I did the lips and shadow in the creases. Then it says to give the baby some cheek color with like blotches. Well in a couple of spots I think I got carried away, It's been baked on. Now can I go back and give it another coat of skin color to maybe tone down some of the cheek color? I'm trying to do two at once and I 'm trying to get one head done for when I go in the hospital I can root the hair while I'm laying their in bed. No more two at once I think then you try to hurry to get both of them done. Thanks for any advice ladies. Have a good evening.
Linda You can put anopther flesh tone over it to tone it down, I'm sure one of the more experienced can advise you better. Not sure if you do it with a thin mint wash. I think that tones down the red. XXXX JUne. PS> To any other suggestions.
Junes right, a flesh layer may tone it down depending on what your trying to achieve. If it's too red I would try using the color wheel and giving it a thin wash to neutralize it a bit then redo the blotchy look.
Thoes are good ideas when I did the same thing I just took acitone to my baby and started from square one. Adding flesh tone seams much better than starting over.
Do a flesh color layer but put just a toothpick spot of pthalo green in it. That will give you coverage but also tone down the red. Then you can always do the blush again. I just love Genesis... it's so forgiving and we get do-overs!!!! Hope your hospital stay isn't long and you are well on the mend soon hun!
Thanks all my reborn buddies. I will try what you said. I knew I could get great advise from you ladies. I just hope some day to be as talented as all of you!!! My hospital stay will probably be about a week I'm having another knee repacement. I had both of them replaced about three years ago and now I'm having it done again. One at a time this time. Getting old and falling apart!!! Thanks again ladies.
I thought they were supposed to last 20 years? OUCH! Now I'm glad I put mine off again lol I'm sure all willl go well for you this time hun, just ask for an industrial knee (or bionic). hehehe Just think of all the drs and nurses you can sell on the idea of adopting one of your babies while you're in there. I'd run out of biz cards (take yours with!!!). I'm sure they will all be amazed on your work hun :) Get better soon and happy rooting :)
Good luck with the surgery Linda! How awful the first one only lasted 3 years so here you are again going on round two! Prayers are with you for a speedy recovery!
Sam needs hip replacement but he is too young, come on 65 in Jan, if it only last 10 yrs who cares as long as people who have hip and knee replacements have a better quality of life. They have to wait untill it is bone on bone. Like pat said, shes glad she put hers off. But we should have the chance to be able to say when. No one else knows the pain you all go though, we can only immagine. Hope you have a quick recovery and as (Pat) said take in your business cards, and a ready made baby , ready for adoption. XXXXX June.
Good Morning all my forum family!! Thank-you so much for all the well wishes and prayers. I go for surgey on Jan5th. and then six weeks after it's the second one. Then are yoiu ready for this after knee replacements are done I have to have both feet done. Like I said getting old and falling apart!!!! So guess I will have a lot of time on catching up on my dolls!!! Thanks for the advice on putting another flesh tone on my doll because I got carried away with the step of putting on some blush to make a stork bite. Yeah she looked like she got bit all right, HA! HA! But the toning down did help. It still shows but not so bad. Again thanks alot. I knew the professionals would know what to do. Have a good day. Linda
Good morning, Linda. Sounds like you have a calendar full of surgeries ahead of you. I hope everything goes just splendidly with your knee replacement.
Your situation is similar to my friend Suzy's. She had two replacements and a hip replacement, one right after the other. All of her surgeries went really well and she's glad she did it.
I'm glad the painting advice worked.

I had been teasing my orthopedic dr as he said I could go ahead with the surgery now cause he has "chic" knees (for women lol) on the shelf, brand new and waiting for me. But I told him just because the right knee is bone-on-bone doesn't mean I'm ready for one. I said he'd have to hold me together till I'm 65 (which is 10 years hehehe). I get injections behind my kneecap about every 6-9-12 mos (depending on how bad the pain gets) and it's 1 per week for 3 weeks in a row. Not cortisone. Doc calls in Jiffy-lube hehehe. Its' like a vitimin shot for the knees. So far so good but I do have days. And then its like shin-splints (ow ow ow) but not on my shins. But eventually I'll have to go in. I really hope it works for you this time hun, I'd hate to think of you going in again, again!
