Hi all! We have a topic going in misc chatter on craft show displays and I thought I'd post some piccies on one of mine. Might give you a new slant on how to display for the best effects. I'm using the "attach images" click box from below the message to display my pics in case someone wants to know "how".
The pic of the woman holding Corey Michelle is my friend Lynn. Corey is my personal baby and Lynn was holding her while I packed up my show. Always put your biz cards away last... I had 10 people who wanted cards when they saw how lifelike my baby was. I always keep some in my pocket. I've had people contact me 2 years later because of a biz card. They just weren't ready to buy back then when I gave them my card. So... you never know!

Wow Pat! I love your display! It looks simple, but effective. It shows all the babies off perfectly. I wasn't sure how I was going to display at the bank, but now I have some great ideas! Thanks so much for sharing. I'll post pics of my bank display once it's set up. Hugs, Melinda
You're very welcome Melinda. If you let it get too complicated or busy it really detracts from the babies. I also like to pose them in natural baby positions, you know, how babies are in real life. No one sees a real sleeping baby with their legs and arms up grabbing their feet or just in the air. They're relaxed, as opposed to an awake baby doing the same thing where they do all kinds of things.
I'm glad I could help with ideas. My booths, even though I have been doing this for 20 years, are ever changing. Especially if I do the same show over and over (which I do). You gotta keep it interesting so if the same people/buyers come by they will still look and maybe see something they had not before, or see the baby in a different light and want to buy this time.
BOL on the bank display, I'm looking fwd to seeing the piccies!
Oh yeah, I forgot to add... When I'm at a show I'm always out straightening or grooming, moving the babies. It draws attention to them and your booth. I never miss a chance to talk about them to others (and pass out a few biz cards lol). Besides, no one ever treats them like I do, they like to pick them up by one arm (AAARRRRRGGGGGG!!!!). And yes, I do ask them if they pick up their own babies like that! Then they consider that maybe they should play nice lol :o

Since I won't be at the bank for the display, I thought about putting up a pretty sign that says something like "Please hold me, but like human babies, treat me gently," or something like that. I have found that once people actually hold a baby, they're much more ready to buy. At least I have a couple more weeks to get ready for this. I will be sure to post pics! Hugs, Melinda
Pat, thanks for posting your display photos. You are so creative! I love your display. And... did I mention, how cute your babies are?
In the photo where the lady is holding Corey--is the woman you?
Melinda, can't wait to see your bank display photos. I hope you get a lot of exposure that translates into sales.

Nope, that lady is not me holding Corey Michelle. That is my best girlfriend Lynn. We met doing craft shows over 15 years ago. She still remembers my opening line "you wanna see my Bubba?" lol she still laughs about it. My pic is in forum somewhere, I posted it cause I was at the Teacher Cert class in Mich. Someone said I look like Mrs Claus hehehe.
I too can't wait to see your piccies from the bank display!
Why thank you Tina. I like to use my angora goat hydes under the babies so I can explain that the hair I use is from them. People understand a little better if they can feel/see it. And the "tiger" theme is for my entire business but mostly my shirts and jewelry. So it all works out. :)
Wow, this is wonderful info - Do you have about 14 of them. I like the height graduating down to the sleeping babies. Your babies look great. Thanks, Sandy McGee
The shelf display I bartered from another crafter. It has been a great thing to have. It gives me the height to be seen from some distance when people enter the show. And the eye starts there and travels down (or the other way round) and it gives contenuity (sp?) to the display. That way theres not really any distractions. Helps people to concentrate on what they're looking at.
