Hi, I have just bought my first set of triplets. I have the cd for painting them but there is no mention of how to paint the eyes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I didn't paint my eyes as at the time I was using Artist Oil Paints, but after using GHSP, I would apply a light coat over the eye, bake it, use a tooth pick and put the dot inthe centre or off side, they need to be placed where natural babies eyes would look, after that I woulddo a circle of colour and the put a small dot at say, 2 oçlock on the colour to make it look like the light is shinging there. Best of Luck, hope this is a help. XXXXXX June.

I believe if you look in the 2008 Secrist Magazine Catalog that there is an article by Danielle Zweers on painting the eyes of her 6" minis.

Hi June, Thanks for that, I am still a little aprehensive about doing them because eyes, to my mind, make or break the whole effect but at least I know how to do them. I am just across from you in NZ. It is great to be able to get such good advice, Thanks again.

Hi, Thanks for that, I looked in the magazine and didn't see the tutorial on painting the eyes but I found out lots of other things I needed to know so was glad to get your advice.

OK, well I know I saw it somewhere. But anyway, you will paint 2 layers of white over the entire eyeball area. Bake each layer (always bake each layer. Then make a circle of the eyecolor you want (blue, grey, etc) look at your eyes for ideas. Bake. Then you will put the black pupil in the middle and bake. Then the last part of the eye is to put the "twinkle" or highlight in the eye. they both go in the same place on each eye. For example: both on the left upper iris, or both on the right lower iris. Then bake. For a final coat to make them look like real eyes, take some of the baby tears and glaze the eyeballs with them, DO NOT BAKE as this is air dry. Do not do too thick a coat as it may not dry right.
Hope this helps. If I find where the article is I'll be sure to let you know.

Pat B, I would have suggested that to, as that is how I paint porcelain dolls eyes, but have to tell you before I started with SHSP, I used inks and the white would not work so I cut the eyes out and put in glass ones, only they where a little on the big side. Sorry I haven't been on much as with all these doctors and dentist appointments, it takes a lot out of you. And because Sam isn't allowed to do anything, I am doing all the lugging and lifting of the heavy stuff. So worn out. XXXXX June.
