I was wondering if anyone has added both the belly and tushie plates to thier babies for posing and if so how they attach both of them. I'm thinking about getting the secrist preemie vinyl body and was debating how to use it with my Lousie head. Should I cut and add a soft body (the way I'm leaning towards) or using the thing whole (not sure about this one) any ideas??
I never used the Secrist belly plate before but I will defnitely go for your first option. There was an article, in the Secrist tutorial 2008, how to attach the plate.
I have used a belly plate before but never the belly and tushie together. Secrist sells the whole vinyl body with limbs. I was wondering what thier intentions were for its use.
If you use the whole body uncut, I would think it wouldn't feel like a baby. It will be totally hard all the way around. More like a doll than a baby. JMHO. Most I believe cut them and use one part or other. That's why you see them produce the tummy or belly plates. Experiment and see what you like. That's what makes this all so interesting. It's all trial and error. That's how we discover new ideas.
Thanks Brenda That was what I was thinking as well. It just seemed odd to me that Secrist would offer the vinyl body for Louise with full limbs but not a suede body to go with it

They offer the entire vinyl body so you can do either or both tummy/tushy.
As far as attaching both, follow the tutorial for the tummy plate. Then with the tushy, just cut the body where you think it will give you just enough coverage for the tushy. Put holes in it just like the tummy, placing the lower holes on the tushy where they will line up with the tummy. Also you may want to secure in the lower (sorry) crotch area of the body for extra stability. Then just use your ribbon (or whatever you're using to tie the tummy on) and run it through the tushy plate too before tying on.
So basically you'll tie at the shoulder, waist (aprox), and the crotch.
I had asked them some time ago about getting a "full limb" cloth bodyslip for this one but they said they had no plans to do so at that time. But you can get full limb bodyslips elsewhere for a decent price. I do love the chubby limbs on that body :)
Thanks Pat. I bought the vinyl body for Louise. YUCK!!!! I don't know what Secrist was thinking they don't match up at all! She looks like a Ninja Turtle with a tiny head! So disappointed in the "Body that fits Louise" Then Secrist doesn't sell the suede body for her either with the full arms and legs??? Was a bit disappointed. : (

I had a good laugh about your discription of poor Louise. I couldn't put it in better words. Yes I don't like the full body either. I made her, but used the 1/4 limbs and cloth body and it worked well. Why don't you make your own body?
Wished I used different limbs as well. I love her little face, but the limbs are horrible. I found a full limb body. The limbs were just a disappointment, Secrist did sell it after all as a suggested alternative for the kit.

I agree, those legs are horrible. They are fat and ugly, but you manage to do them well. You did a great job on her. Some one else won't even notice that the legs is not perfect for her little face.
Ya, I posted elsewhere about that... body. Danielle Zweers sculpted the Louise head and said she wanted it larger to fit the all vinyl body, especially with those legs! But you do what your boss says I guess.
So I have decided to put a cloth body (and use the tummy/tushy plate) and with a Zoe or Missy head on it. I think that's just about right. It's better for the head to be larger than the body. Ninja turtle hahahaha, you're so funny!
Thats sad that they were mis-matched that, way she has the most adorable little head. I also like the 3/4 limbs instead of the old 1/4 limbs Louise use to come with.
