Well, the bare spots....I keep trying to fill them in. I'm afraid if i keep putting holes in the head, that it will ruin it.

That picture was taken with my cell phone and it is blurry, but I think you can see the bare spots well enough. I know a baby's hair isn't perfect, and I'm wondering if I need to continue to fill in all the areas that are not full. Or, should I take out some of the thicker areas?

Sorry to sound confusing but this is my first doll.

I think the hair is not nearly as bad as you think. Spay the head all over with a good conditioner and comb through the mohair with a comb. This will allow you to see if your rooting is even and it is easier to fill the gaps.
The 40 gauge one barb needle is just fine.  Don't be in despair, just fill the gaps and see from there what you can do. Good luck sweetie

Thanks Ronel! I'll try that this evening when I get home from work.

I find that babies with thinner hair look much more realistic than ones with full heads of hair. Try removing some of the thicker areas and filling in the extreme bald spots. Don't worry about putting holes in the head...nobody will notice :)

Sounds like some good advice to me! If you have thicker areas or plugs just take a tweezer and pull out some of the hairs. then yes, root some of the bald spots and maybe use a 40g 3 barb needle. Go at an angle like it shows in the dvd. Go slow if you are not getting your hairs to stay in the holes when you root.

I was reading about the gaps on the head when rooting. I also have some and some thick spots. You said spray the head with spray conditioner and comb it. Do you wait till your completely done with the head to do this? Because if you did it now while you still rooting won't you be coming the hair out?  Because theirs nothing to hold it in place. Thanks for your help.                         Linda

I spray my hair as I go along using a regular size "rat tail" comb to gently comb through. The hair will not come out its in there a bit tighter then you think.
Good Luck!

Well you want to be sure you don't have tangles when you comb with conditioner. Comb lightly starting at the bottom of the hair. Then go up from there. You will get some shedding as all the hairs will not get rooted.
Just pull out some of the thicker hair places (a hair or two out of each hold will make a difference) and then make sure you are angling your needle when rooting in the bald spots.
