Hello,
Has anyone tried the BnB air dry paint? I painted a BnB doll called presley it come out really nice it was easy to work with it just takes a little longer to make your baby, you can use a regular blow dryer to speed up drying time.
I want to try the GHSP but I am afraid I will melt the doll then I would be highly upset. Please let me know if anyone has tried these paints.

Have a BLESSED evening ,

Secrist has also come out with some new paints that are still heat set but you don't need any thinner with them. Nice for non- USA customers who order from here cause the thinner can't be shipped overseas. Now you don't need any.

Personally I don't think I would use paints that you use a hairdryer on. How do you know they are permanent? Not really much heat in a hair dryer.

Pat Has anyone in (supplier) got these paints yet. as I was thinking of getting a set of the bigger jars that you mix yourself. plus the colour. A lot of supplies here have out of stock on their websites. I guess it is the dollar. Oh, the other thing I was going to ask, if we buy Genesis heat set paints here, should they have another name on them. Not seepking out of turn. Just curious. XXXX June.

I tried the Air Dry paints on my first baby. I didn't like the fact that you were limited to time in completing each layer. Also the instructions for them were not the best to follow (of course it could have been just my experience) Genesis is so much more forgiving. I like the idea of the "no thinner" paints. Please keep us updated Pat I would love to try them. Have been having a heck of a time ordering the chroma thinner lately. Placed 2 orders and they sent the wrong thing both times! Something is wrong either in the warehouse or with the website item number.

Hello Pat B.

BnB said the paints become permanent in 1 day, you don't have to use a blow dryer, BnB said you can use one to speed up the drying, I did'nt have any problems with any of the paint coming off when I did the other layers, I sealed the paint and that was that.

Have a BLESSED day.smile

Hello Tina,

You are right the air dry paints are time consuming, I'm retired so I have nothing but time, but I will try the GHSP, I won't have to spend money on shipping because I live about 45 miles from Secrist my husband has been telling me that he is going to take me, but you know how men are, I probably will just go myself, the bad thing about going to the store I will want every doll kit that I see.biggrin

Have a BLESSED day

Mr Secrist had me post a new tutorial in forum for the new "Authentic Reborn (TM)" paints where the old one was. I wasn't able to put the pic of Rosie back in there. Here is the link: http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=121380&subForumID=426964&p=2

It is in the same place (as a sticky) where the old one was. This tutorial is for the new paints that DO NOT need any thinner added! We do still carry the original Genesis Heat Set paints also. Hopefully I will be trying them soon to see the difference. I am certified as a Secrist teacher with the original ones. Be sure you read the entire updated painting tutorial as there are some new techniques with it and some new tools.

I have known several people who don't care for the air-dry paints from BnB. And you are right, there is a "time limit" for using them (IMHO I like to take my time so my bub comes out how I want it). Some have success, some do not as with anything.

Dee, be sure you call the office before just stopping by the factory to pick up an order. I'm not sure what they have out now as far as seeing things there. I agree, nice to save on shipping :)

The nice thing about the Genesis (and now our Authentic Reborn paints) is that you don't  have to seal them as they are self-sealing, so there is no need which saves you time and a step!

I don't know which suppliers/dealers have these paints in stock. They have just been released so it might take a week or so depending on where they are located. You might want to check with them specifically to see if they will be offering them. They probably will as larger international dealers are supposed to carry everything we have.

I know when I got the Genesis regular sized paints and supplies from Secrist they did have the Genesis name on them. I think the petites have Secrist name on them. When you order, just make sure you get them from a Secrist authorized dealer and be specific stating  you want the Secrist ones (especially if they carry other brands of paints).

Hope I answered everyones questions :)

Thanks Pat B, Just one of the girls that come to my home to do a Hobby night had three jars with a name from a suppler crossed out, and I thought that was a bit deceaving. Even thoght it had Genesis Heat Set Paints on the Black and white lable, they were sold to her as GHSP Do suppliers put their own names on the jars. XXXX June.

The might hun, I have seen it done. I know with Secrist they put their name on the premixed ones because Genesis mixes those colors exclusively for Secrist. But as for the Straight single colors they leave the Genesis name on them because they are standard Genesis colors.

I know I had a student who had gone online to BB and putchased some of their paints and she tried to use them in my class and it not only had different names for what they were (like vein color, lips, etc) they didn't anywhere match the colors that Secrist uses. She couldn't use them. You have to make sure that you order the colors for the painting system you are using (ex: order BB paints for use with their directions, order DD paints for use with theirs). See what I mean?

All paints are not created to be used universally with other kits or directions. It's like putting a Ford wheel on a Chevy! Looks the same, may be called the same thing, but in the long run doesn't work the same.
