Yes I admit, the toddlers are definately a challenge! I have an Isabelle from Apple Valley (Secrist's sister company) and I haven't done her yet. I also have a 36" grandma and grandpa that I will do as Mr and Mrs Claus but I might have to wait till next year with all the other babies I have to do. I don't like to rush my painting. It took me 6 months to make my 36" porcelain (of course that also included the body, wire armature, and fancy dress). But it was well worth it, she is beautiful. (IMHO). :)

I do love that sculpt you did. Is her hair rooted or a nicely thinned wig? If you did the rooting it looks VERY good from waht I can see. She is adorable

Thank you so much for the compliments! Yes, her hair is micro-rooted in. Where did you get a 36" doll? That is really a big one. I've never made a porcelain doll, it sounds really hard, but they are beautiful.
I start making my dolls for the Christmas rush in about July. I try to have at least 10 made by November. I sell my dolls on ebay and I always sold them in one of our local craft stores. The craft store is going out of business so I won't be able to sell them their anymore. (too bad!). I've been really busy making dolls but I only have about 5 done.
I don't rush either, but I'm home alone most of the time and have plenty of time to work on them.

You can get 36" doll kits (and 30") on Secrist's sister company's website:

Have a look, you might find someone you like :)

I love your toddler, she is so adorable. I just took a beginners newborn class last week for the first time. I have fallen in love with doll making. I have three girls and I know that every one of them would like a toddler like this. It is certainly something I will have to try after I have a bit more experience.

Again, Great Job, she is beautiful!

What an adorable little girl! Fantastic job! I can certainly understand why you were thinking about keeping her. I would have had a terrible time letting her go. Congratulations on a beautiful toddler.

Pat, Just noticed you made 36 " porcelain doll, I have no patience to do something over that length of time. I made three 39" ones in a week plus bodies, and dressed them. One got Best Professional Doll of show, the other two got best of sections. Will have to look for pics and post to site for you. XXXX June.

Yes June, it was Shay and she was a joy to do. I haven't made any more big ones since then. She took me 6 months, but then again I was just learning how to do porcelains. I still have her. Couldn't bear to part with her, she was my first. I got a highest points blue ribbon for her. Her eyebrows took me 4 hours, you know... the old wipe on, wipe off. That is when I learned from an artist to turn the head upsidedown when you paint the other brow to fool your brain.
Course these days it doesn't take too much or long to fool these 2 braincells! lol
I would still be doing porcelains if I had someone to fire for me. All 3 shops have either closed or gone elsewhere :(
But at least I have my vinyls! :)
