Best to make your own and then you know they are made properly. I know the sets that came with the first set of triplets, supposedly free, you wouldnt use them, they weren't finished off. But I did buy Zoe dress off a stall holder and it is made very well , overlocked and finished off nicely, but then I'm fussy. The little stripped set I bought off the same lady has only velcrose on the back Like baby born cloths. June M from Oz
They are nothing like the quality of the "free" clothing and body in the 6" mini set. Secrist's clothing choices are usually VERY nice peices and I have never had a complaint with them. I do also sew and as a seamstress I would and have purchased them for my own babies. I would never hesitate on ordering clothing for the babies from Secrist or Apple Valley.
PatB, The ones for Zoe are Secrists and are made lovely and so is the striped dress, but the Zoe dress has buttons and the other is only velcrowed, And as I said they are well made. But I still think if you can sew, nothing beats it because it is personalized. June M from Oz.
Thank you, Buffington! It does help. They look really cute. They are also a good price. (Expensive enough to make me think they are probably better quality, "cheap" enough to be afforadable!)
I agree about making your own, Sara, it is just that the patterns that are available don't seem to fit Guppy quite right and I'm not good at altering patterns!
I must agree since taking a look at the clothing and realizing they are the quality of the dress I had on Summer Rose, Zoe sculpt. They are quite cute.
Could any of you helpful artists out there tell me where to get clothing for the 17" dolls other than Secrist's. The newborn clothing in the stores is just that little bit too big. Linda H. in B.C.
Linda, most of them just use 0000 or 00000's From Target ,Best and Less or K Mart over here. But if we put them into doll comps here we loose points. I lost 3 for not having made the cloths myself, on Jasmine, I onher lashes and 1 one her eyes, well she is asleep so how could they judge that. Anyway 95 out of 100, can't complain. On B.A.B.Y there is a lady that makes cloths and the others have commmented on how nice they are, but you would have to look for yourself, if you can't sew. You could put an add in the paper to see if anyone in your area does sew for dolls.
Thank you so much for all the info. Unfortunately sewing was never one of my talents thanks to a crummy grade 8 teacher way back in the 60's.......but that's another story.... I'll keep hunting for nice things for tiny babies. I've almost completed my very first doll. Was such fun! Just have her hair to do! Hope you are having a wonderful day way down south. Loves, I put a pattern % sizer on the forum somewhere,So if you had a 20' dress pattern, you could bring it down to 12'. But if you are interested in doing some sewing, I am only to willing to get my patterns out and copy them for you. June.
You can always go to Vee's Victorians for clothes. She has lots of things in lots of sizes!!! I have been using her clothing off and on for 20 years!! They are a little pricy but well worth the money (IMHO)! Here is the link: http://www.veesvictorians.com/
