I tried piercing Juliette's ears but the earrings just didn't look right. I'm not sure if it is her ear or just the fact that her ears aren't fleshy like a real baby's.
i've wanted to pierce a babies ears, but i've not done so... i hesitate in doing so b/c i fear it would limit her sale postential. Alot of people have a view that babies are too young for pierced ears, personally i like babies with tiny baby studs. But given my babies are my business its sale potential i have to consider.
post some pics of your Juliette, i'd like to see... it could be her earlobe style that it doesn't suit or it could be the earings you've used... or maybe you'r looking at her too critically... post a pic and get our opinions... i promise to be honest.
I've seen some babies with pierced ears that look good, and others that look odd. It might just depend on the sculpt and the style of earlobe on the sculpt, the way the hair has been styled round the ears, and even the studs (earings) used. It's difficult to really give an opinion without seeing Juliettes done.
My Mother started the fashion of pierced ears in her late fifties and started a trend for all of us. Now all Granddaughters get their pierced at 6 weeks, we love it. June M from Oz
We love to pierce babies ears at a young age in our family too. Nana Delma & I have spoken about piercing a baby's (doll) ears at some stage....probably on one to keep for myself. I would love to see a picture of your baby to see what they look like.
I think you would do it the same way we did our rubber teats on our baby bottles, with a hot needle. June M from Oz
Reguarding Juliettes ears, with porcelain dolls ears, you mark them in the same spot equally on both ears, and you push a hot needle in though straight not on an angle. otherwise they won't go through, if you don't want the back on you can cut it to the length and super glue it on. June
I have pierced not only my dolls ears but also my daughter Amanda's (when she was 3 months old). I did Lupe as a Hispanic baby and her new mommie loved it. I think that was one of the selling points on her.
YOu are right indeed! Some of the dolls do not have good earlobes for piercing and also some people pierce them crooked so they look odd. If your doll had flatter lobes (more toward the head/neck) you must pierce them going into the head and the stud would then be glued inside the head (or the back of the stud to the ear if using posts). I have done it both ways depending on the earlobe. I use either a small drillbit or a hot awl. Be sure to clean the lobe of all debris so the earring will sit right. And make sure there is enough space between the head and the lobe before using hoops.
