hi leah hun, its for marije's nostrils hehehe they are very shallow... will this maroon colour be suitable still ?? thanks hun =)

well the colour is to add to the look of depth so it looks real if somone looks up her nose so hold it over the holes and take a look maybe try a few different colours until you see the effect your looking for :) i dont open my noses anymore i like to paint them now :) hope this helps (((hugs)))

ive never used navy but you could try it hun also if you have it try a flesh colour i used that once and surprisingly it looked great

I<ma bit like TEA, I think a natural colour would suit better, you don,t want the baby to look like it has a bleeding nose, especially if it is shallow. weirdface

My favorite color felt that I've used has been a soft dark chocolate brown. I thought it looked nice. I also placed a small piece behind the mouth of my Sunflower baby and it gave some really nice added depth to the inside of her mouth through the vinyl.

if i use maroon felt on shallow nostrils will it really look like a bleeding nose??? weirdface

only if they are extremely shallow hun and there arnt many sculpts with that, try and see what you feel or sticky tape it and post a piccy in the artist showcase well soon let ya know hehehe

i use to use maron, now i've been going more toward a flesh colour, it still gives depth and takes the plastic molded look away by opening the nostrals but keeps it a little more natural looking than the dark colour did... its a personal opinion though.

i went though a stage where i wasn't opening them but i had a few people email and ask it i could open the nose before sending the baby, so i've gone back to opening them

Naomi, maybe thats what I will try with the next four I have to do.I haven't opened noses before because with the porcelain they didn't do much of that, because of the bugs climbing in the nostrils and moths and because of some of the mouths, they didn't look nice with any thig behind them. I'm just curious why you don't open the nostrils anymore - is it because you like the painted look better, don't want to destroy the integrity of the vinyl, or something else?

it has been known for the softer sculpts noses to collapse over time if the nose has been opened, so to be on the safe side i dont open any anymore nomatter if it is soft or a harder vinyl i would be devistated if one of my customers rang me and told me one of my babies noses had collapsed :) ((hugs))

well i had no choice this time as there were no depth to her nostrils and being weird shaped nostrils =(

i did shade my luca's nostrils and they look great and they do "appear" open even though they're not...

i hate the kits that give u no choice ... But to drill them =(

i found it weird doing it too... yuk! LOL hehehee

i really don't see a need to open many of the babies noses... but b/c of buyer requests i've gone back to doing so... Leah, it does concern me somewhat though now that you've posted about collapsed noses!! hmmmm what to do???

On second thought, I don't think I will open any noses, just like I wouldn,t with the Porcelain, I think if they are painted correctly, and maybe given a bit of the gel glooss or sealer, that should be enough. I now sculpy breaks down, as Tamara had bought a scupt done from it and the ear tip broke and the finger broke off. And the was from a leading artist sculpt. June M from Oz

when a cutomer requests an open nose Naomi i simply tell them exactly what ive written above hun usualy they understand and most of them never heard of it before and are quite shocked some wont buy a baby with an open nose anymore jsut be open and honest :)

Honesty is the best policy, I never liked open nose dolls or they would come like it in the kits. June M

I still open some of the noses. I use dark brown felt for the backing. I have been reborning for about 4 years and have never had any noses collapse, but I haven't opened any noses on the "squishy" sculpts like BB.
