Aaaaargh! Awful body slip with awful proportions on backwards!

Okay, so I was all excited about finishing my 2nd baby tonight.  I was just going to stuff and weight her, and then attach her.  I had made a cloth flannel body awhile back, following a pattern from a book called 'Creative Doll Makeovers'.  Well, I had her limbs all weighted, and then started to stuff the cloth limbs, and her legs looked a bit weird.  When I had her all done (or so I thought), I discovered that her legs were backwards, like instead of being a bit curved down, they were very curved up!  :(  Also, her torso is too long, her arms are too long, her legs are too long, and she's a bit skinny (all compared to a Secrist body I liked).  So now what?  She's jointed, and I don't think they come undone real easily, but I haven't tried.  I do have more cloth, so I could make new legs (the ones attached now have a hole for the joint on the wrong side), but I really don't like the rest of the body either.  So I could just buy a Secrist body, but then the money and time I spent making her flannel body is wasted!  I'm very frustrated.  Any tips or ideas?  Thanks.

Andrea, just a suggestion on bodies, if you like the Secrists ones best but want to make your own, purchase one, un pick it and make a pattern from it. in one of the topics ,I did a chart for resizing, down or up, under Pattern Scaling Chart., so you could draw one pattern then increase or decrease. If thats alright with Secrrists. When you put your arms on , they are supposed to reach your crutch, thats what there ment for.Legs are usually twice the lenght frfoot to knee, when finished. I hope this will be of some benefit to you. Check out the chart. You have to draw line sdown the rows and accross, you will have blank spaces, this is because 16=16 and is 100 percent. Happy sewing.weirdfaceJune M from Oz  P.s.   If they are plastic joints you can get them off if your carefull, I use an old knife( blunt) but if it happen to brake the washer that tighens it, you can still use it by winding a string or thick wool arround it to tightenit and then glue with quick drying craft gliue.

I had similar problems (those joints don't come off!) when I tried to make my own bodies. I ended up deciding that for all the time and money I was putting into everything else the $7-15 more for the body wasn't too much...

Where are the Secrist 22" body slips for 1/4 limbs? I don't see them on their website. Anyone know what happened? I might just have to uses the flannel body after all. It's fixable if I can get the joints off and reuse them. Thank you all for your helpful tips. And where are those Secrist bodies?

It's a Berenguer. I used a 22" 1/4 limb body slip from Secrist on my 1st Berenguer and it looked fine on her. Thanks.

Thank you all so much for the useful tips. I have solved my problem! My Dad and I heated the joints with a hairdryer for 2 minutes, then using a long flat screwdriver (sorry June, the knife didn't work) we were able to pry the washer off, remove the joint, and put it back together correctly! So while the body isn't as cuddly and poseable as the Secrist one, and it's proportions still don't seem quite right to me, it will work for me this time. In the future, though, it's a boughten Secrist body for me (though if Secrist doesn't mind, I might eventually copy the body and make my own flannel ones later on).  Well, that's that.  Thank you again for all the help.
