Hi everyone.... I live in Penguin, Tassie and am very new to reborning having just completed my very first baby today and I am delighted with her for my first try. She is very special to me (someone knows why)! I joined the forum last week and was encouraged to post some pics of my "Kyjana" ... who is 20 1/2"long and weighs 4lb 6oz . She hasn't any clothing of her own yet, so is wearing my 1 year old grand daughter's newborn size 0000's at the moment! LOL! I look forward to your comments and thank you in advance for having me here!! I hope you like my pics
Sweet Kyjana,I had a closer look at your 1st image and she looks great, with necks of singlets, I usually thread ribbon through them so they don,t gape. When you look at her eyes the light spot should be in the same place in each eye. And don,t quote me on this, but usually, with baby boys the hair line is back a bit further on the sides like you have done,on baby girls you do it little more to the front. Is that right Pat B?June m from Oz Its freezing here to untill mid morning> near Gympie Qld.
Hi June..thanks for your comments. Yes...I did read in this forum somewhere about the light spot and I will make note of that for future. They did look straight when I stuck them in, but think they moved a little when I glued the felt to them. That's a great idea about the lace around the neck line...I will do that. I will also make note about the hair line ... although my little grandbaby girl had a very sparse hair line when she was born. It still is and she's just turned 1!! Anyway, as a learner, I value and appreciate any comments/feedback..thanks again. (My brother also says it's cold in Qld..he's at Maleny.)
Hi Auntie Carol!!! I'm so glad you decided to post *does a happy dance*
well you already know what i think of your little bub, she is great and i can't wait till you get to try another... and uncle has given his blessing so i say get in and order a sculpt while he's all proud over this first effort of yours.
You're going to have to bring her over to show me in person when you guys are here in the christmas season.
well i'm totally buggered and off to bed. loves and loves
Hi and welcome to our forum Kyjana! It's nice to see all the newbies coming in :) (and OH! it looks like you already know someone here) :)
Nice that you posted but I'm going to point you towards the rules. I moved your post (even though it belongs in newbies) because you posted piccies instead of links here. We can post actual pics only in the Artist Showcase, the other threads/topics must be links only. I didn't have the heart to deleat your pics so I just moved the entire thread. I'm sure Naomi can fill you in or direct you if need be.

This is purley my personal opinion from studying real babies, the boys hair line is futher back than a girls but not on the sides at the front boys have a longer forhead than girls, as for the sides each baby differs depending on their face shape a good tip is if you measure from the very top of the ear up the side of the head to where your side hair starts and put a little dot thats how far indepth the side hair line should be hope i explained that ok (((hugs))))
It is lovely to meet you sweet Kyjana your little baby is jsut beautiful welcome to the forum hun (((hugs0))

Thank you so much everyone for your lovely welcoming comments and thank you Buffington for moving me to the correct place, although I must admit...I almost posted here and then changed my mind b/c I wasn't sure! Guess I should have read the rules first. Yes...it is my lovely niece Naomi who is responsible for me making this baby (and don't worry neice, I will be bringing her, and I want to make one with you while I'm there if time permits..hehe). Not sure what sculpt to order next, there are so many! I look forward to enjoying this forum with you all. Sending huggles to everyone.
Nai Nai, If the singlet has an elastic neckline ,I just thread a narrow satin ribbon with a larger type needle, if it is a sealed neck, I push the needle in back the front so I dont cut the fabric, but be carefull not to prick yourself. Some times you have to go in and out underthe shoulder seam, I hope I have explained this OK for you. June M from Oz
regarding using ribbon to gather in necklines on clothing that gapes or shows the cloth body -- i often use a really thin hat ellastic to do this myself, though ribbon could be pretty too.
Auntie Carol, would love to make a baby with you when your over!! Weeee can't wait till december/jan now when you guys are here
Hello Aunty Carol, and Naomi, I,m Great Nana to most on the forum, so a warm welcome to you. I have learnt so much from your niece, I,m not quite as computer illiterate as when I first started, thanks to Naomi. What a wonderful niece you have . I,m sure there isn,t much you won,t be able to learn from her. But ther is also wonderful information on the forum so keep checking in and dropping a line.June M from Oz
Nai Nai, I also do this with the necks on clothing it gives it a finishing touch rather than elastic that perishes these days.June M from Oz. Also instead of elastic in undies legs and waist, sleeves and long pants, I use the ribbon so you don,t have to replace it and it doesn,t discolour the fabric.
Hi Great Nana June...Thank you for the welcome. Naomi has been a wonderful help when I first became interested in reborning recently. Poor girl.... I inundated her with so many emails for information I must've driven her mad...lol! I am lucky to have such a niece for sure!
Niece...I will make sure I bring a kit with me on hols! I can't wait either.
Aunty Carol, We are on line at the same time. I just got you on the forum. Looking forward to the next babies, you create. With information, I had to ask what or who was LOL, how stupid of me. LOLJune M from Oz
Great Nana June (i hope you don't mind me calling you that)....that was funny and made me lol again! I too am looking forward to creating another baby post haste! I've got the bug so any suggestions for any not too expensive sculpts, I like over 20" ones, suitable for the beginner like me. Maybe closed eyes this time. It is too hard to choose as there are sooooo many. Must get some ribbon for that singlet neckline tomorrow!
Well Auntie Carol, I,ve done a few of the 17" Plus Paddy, Jasmine and Taffy are a little bigger, but I purchased them from here,, so I would get the info from Naomi she tells me it,s cheaper from overseas. I was just trying to put in a wish list but it seemed to take forever. I was also going to start a new topic on it, but desided to check the forum again. Great Nana Is fine but you can call June, either way it doesn,t matter.LOLwith LsOL (Lots Of Love) my shorthand.June M from Oz
