Here are 2 of my sculpts. I sort of tried sculpting loooooong ago and had a dear friend of mine squish my little head right in front of me! I think I was traumatized so I haven't sculpted for many years. Here are 2 that I sculpted for the last Secrist sculpting contest:
The first one is Fegan, a little 20" fairie baby. (please excuse Fegan as he got the "dreaded moonies" when I baked him)
Wow Pat! you`re really good on that!.... I specially liked the details of the mouth... you did a really good work... those sculpts should be vinyl kits some day!!!!
Thanks! :) I am hoping to get them (at least Fegan) made some day. They do need limbs though and I'm working on some.
I am such a fuss-budget that it takes me forever to sculpt and get them to where I want them. Then sometimes I go back to try to fix something and over work it and mess it all up. So I've learned that when it originally looks good, I have to step away...
I am working on a Korean baby at the moment, I got the eyes perfect, so I had to step away for a while... nose isn't quite right but I have to leave the eyes alone lol
I would love to do another fairy baby, or maybe a Mermaid or an Angel. I want them to be tiny like Guppy. I don't like the sculpt of the other 12" Secrist has, though. "sigh" I may have to do a larger fairy... so I hope your's gets produced because I think it is cute!
Ya, she's seen those and the other 2 I'm working on. I even let her hold those 2 because they've already been baked. The other 2 I only let her look as she is a squisher not a smasher hehehe
hehe -- just make sure she never has a hammer in hand when holding the baked ones, as you know i've *fallen* on a few of mine repeatedly with a hammer !! LOL
that said you've done a fantastic job that i'd be horrified if she destroyed these ones.
No, don't worry! When she is near them she has nothing in her hands! And she knows better now. I don't allow any falling on babies, especially with hammers eh? lol
I too would be horrified if ANYTHING happend to those heads!
Oh wow, I just now saw this thread as a sticky. You did a great job Pat! You must have all the patience in the world to sculpt like that. Do you really scuplt dolls and then get them produced as kits for secrist? That is neat! I didn't know that's how it was done, lol.
Good for me that it wasnt me the dear friend that squished your sculpted babyhead,..i would not dare to do such thing ...lol Your new head looks good ,..now did you made any progres with the limbs yet??? i would love to see them :) you probably have practiced since last january :)
hehehe, uh... sure I did Daan lol! Not really, they're just sitting in the same bag as when you saw me put them there, probably the clay is falling off the limb forms now hehe.
Ya, these 2 are not my newest ones. I hope to put them on here soon :) (maybe with limbs ya?) lol
Yes Tracy, that is how you do it. You have to make a sculpt (with limbs at first) and then someone sees them that makes kits so hopefully they will like them enough to make them into kits, right Danielle?? I don't think Secrist liked either one of these ones. If he did he wasn't beating down my door to get them lol
Pat, I think you did a great job on your sculpts their very nice! These are some of my sculpts, most of them are already finished one just needs the limbs. Jade (the first one) is about 8 1/2 inch and the other ones are about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inch , and Kaylee (the unfinished one ) is going to be 9 inch.
Well, I doubt if I did that right. Computer stuff is just really hard for me. I can type...usually...but that's just about it besides email and surfing the web and I can buy stuff...hehehe Oops...Paisley is too big...no wonder it took so long for those 4 pictures to upload..and all these little icons are shaking their heads noooooooo!! lol Well this has tired me out..I don't know how to change the sizes. It's too bad I can't just copy and paste the images. I do that all the time, but I don't know how to get them into the right size. You sure got a close up of my work....maybe this wasn't such a good idea...hahaha I'm going to try that: Well that seemed to work. Thats Samantha and Sera from BB MM Here's Kyra BB
Okay..I'll stop because these are big. I'll delete them and put in a couple more next time. But I had to pick my jaw up off the keyboard after viewing the wonderful sculpts and dolls..oh my..so much talent is here. You all left me in your dust. Bravo to all of you. Those itty bittys are sooo darling..I want to learn that!!!!!

You know...I saw my pictures in here, but now they are not showing up.?? I tried to do it the browse files and I did find them, but they came out really big...like you only got 1/4 of Paisley face in the screem....lol..I think I know how to get the pictures smaller andthen I'll try again...ugh..I'm not too good at this..I just got a new computer and they transfered my pictures, but now I have two different places where pictures are. I have them set up to go in emails in a nice size...not too big, not too little. I'll go try to do something like that.

OK Aviva, to help you out some I deleted your posted pics that were not showing up since you said you wanted to delete them anyway.
Try posting again... this time go near the bottom of this page when you are posting. It says something like post photo/picture. Click on that and it will bring up a browse button. Click on your picture and then click upload. It should resize your pics some for you so they're not so big and they show up. Give it a go and see what happens. I'll be back in a day or two :)
Okay...I did it and got the picture in here, but again it didn't resize, so I tried to got through my Kodak program to see if I resized the email size to see if that affected it. I'll give it one more shot here. Ithink I got it..hehehe
Okay...I wanted to see the pictures so I could say who they are. The first one is suppose to be Paisley by DPratt and BB Then the next one is Kyra BB and by Eva...can't think right now. And the last one is Sam kit by Marrissa May BB Mom kepts getting up. She has Alz. and she's having a bad night. I'm almost afraid to go to bed. *sigh* Good night.
Okay..I probably are driving you'll crazy...I added another thinking it was Haneshah (Hebrew meaning Little Hannah), but turned out to be Trey. Both babies were sculped by Alena Petterson( I think that's right??) and BB'S. HEHEHE not babies..) Well...I'm half asleep..ended up cleaning some house last night etc. So I didn't get to bed until this morning. I need to go visit with hubby and then my mom. I thought there was a spell check in here..can't find, so guess you'll have to overlook my typing and spelling. Some I can blame on this new keyboard.

I wish I could move your last few posts Aviva, because this thread is for "sculpts" as in dolls you have sculpted. But you did a really good job of posting your pics here. I'm happy for you that you were able to finally do it!!! YAY for you ;)
Okay...I wasn't that sure whenI posted them. I think of sculpts as the kit from whomever did it. Like when you give credit Oh heck, ya know what I mean...lol...you can delete them if you want. I guess everyone has seen them and there is no point in leaving on even in the right place...

I have to tell you I was looking at the finished dolls. I saw your little sculpted dolls. Wonderful job. I really love the little fairy doll. I love fairies. That's something I don't think I'll be able to do anything like that. I'm still trying to master reborning dolls. Linda
This is my latest sculpt, she's a toddler, about 2 yrs old. She's just a head so far but i think she will be around 20" when finished. hope you like her! Abby x
Thanks! :) No her hair is glued after baking, I usually bake the hair in when it's sparse baby hair, but for a full head like this it just wouldn't work. It was quite a challenge tho! I also had to restrain myself from turning her into a baby whilst I was sculpting, old habits die hard lol! By the way, I think your 2 heads are looking really good, did you do the limbs yet?
All I can say is WoW! I wish I could watch you gluing the hair on. It looks like it would be hard to do. Although this one is fabulous, I adore your babies.

Thanks! :) It was very boring actually, gluing it on a few strands at a time, I've never done a full head of hair like that so was something new for me!
I've not glued hair on clay sculpts before. I was thinking about rooting like Danielle Z does. But that must have taken you hours :o
No, I haven't made their limbs yet. I gotta be in the mood and I have difficulties with hands and feet. It'll come though. My other 2 heads I made got dried out and have cracked and split. Will haave to do them over I guess. Liquid sculpy probably won't save them :(
oh that's a shame. Were they not baked then? if not, try making a slip with baby oil and a little clay and push it into the cracks and smooth over the top. By rooting do you mean with a needle into uncured clay? I have tried, it's Very difficult! not so bad to apply but because the clay is soft you have to pinch the holes closed behind, which makes for a bumpy scalp! Also, as you can't glue behind like you would on vinyl you get so much shedding, in my opinion it's not worth it.
No, they weren't baked yet as I still had some smoothing to do on them. I was "going" to get back to them lol :(
Yes, with a needle and unbaked clay. When Danielle does hers she removes the scalp part where the hair will go and bakes the rest. Then when it's cooled she puts the scalp back and roots the hair. You are right, it's difficult and you have to push each hole on the hair but it comes out sooo nice (if you have the time and patience) lol if there's a lot of hair, no its not worth it. Although I might do it on a sculpt I'm keeping. :)
Thanks Tina :) I should get her finished over the weekend, she has 2 arms and 1 leg at the mo! I may try that rooting thing next time, sounds do-able..if I can grow a bit of patience!

Abby, Lucy is STUNNING! I just love her. And, I'm really glad you are over the flu. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't get it.

It's mainly reborns with a few sculptors and i think there's a lady who makes cloth dolls too, should be fun! I'm not expecting to sell anything but it will be nice to meet some other dolly makers!
